Dhaka takes firm steps to get maximum benefit

Bangladesh delegation is making its sincere efforts at the Peru World Climate Summit as one of the world's most vulnerable countries to adverse impact of climate change aiming to get maximum benefit from the summit.
It is vital for vulnerable countries like Bangladesh to be given both financial and technical assistances under loss and damage mechanism to cope with climate change challenges, Environment and Forest Secretary Md Nazibur Rahman, one of the members of Bangladesh delegation, made the call at a session of the summit on Saturday, an official release said in the city on Monday, reports BSS.
All climate change victim countries including Bangladesh should be given adequate compensation to overcome future adverse impact of climate change, he added.
At the world climate summit, the delegation of Bangladesh side called upon large carbon emitting countries to provide their technical and financial assistance aiming to strengthen capacity of most climate vulnerable countries.
It said the issues of adaptation and loss and damage are also crucial for Bangladesh for sustainable development. Support to finance, technology development and transfer and capacity building is also important as well, the delegation observed.
Environment and Forest Minister Anwar Hossain Manju arrived in Lima on Sunday to attend the world climate summit.
