Dhaka to seek help for halting terror funds

Saturday, 28 March 2009

Dhaka will talk to friendly states on coordinated efforts to halt terror funds, said the state minister for home Friday, reports bdnews24.com.
"We have to tackle militancy and terrorism by joining hands with others who believe in cooperation," Tanjim Ahmed told reporters at Zia International Airport before his departure for the US.
The minister was on his way to attend the 15th Annual Pacific Special Command Programme in Hawaii on March 29-April 3 with participants from 20 countries. The state minister, who leads a three-member delegation, said, "The conference will mainly discuss counter terrorism strategies."
"We'll look at different security options." "The issue of raising an international taskforce for effectively fighting terrorism will also be touched on."
Tanjim said he would raise Bangladesh's security concerns at the conference. Asked in what areas Bangladesh would seek international assistance against terrorism, the state minister said, "As we would extend support to others who need it, we may also seek assistance in times of need."
