Dhaka under security blanket during Eid vacation

Dhaka and other important cities have been placed under security blanket for 72 hours during the three-day Eid-ul-Fitr holidays on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. However, Inspector General of Police (IGP) AKM Shahidul Haq said the Eid special security measures will be in force till Monday. He said security steps has been taken, especially in Dhaka city during Eid celebration and the law enforcers will remain alert to prevent possible crimes during the whole three-day Eid vacation. The IGP said special mobile teams will keep vigilance around commercial complexes and shopping malls, financial institutions and houses. Besides, area based mobile teams will also remain alert during the Eid vacation, he added. Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) has also taken up special security measures in the capital as well as across the country during the Eid vacation. The National Eidgah was covered under security blanket as the President, the Cabinet members, judges and diplomats offered Eid prayers there. Close-circuit (CC) cameras have already been installed at different strategic points, including the the National Eidgah. Besides, Dog squad and bomb squad of the elite force remained alert from early Saturday, according to a news agency.
