Foreign Minister Dr. Hasan Mahmud urged the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to simplify the visa procedure for Bangladeshi workers in all categories, as well as facilitate the transfer of work permits from one employer to another, reports BSS.
He made the appeal during a bilateral meeting with the UAE Minister for Human Resources and Emiratization, Dr. Abdul Rahman Al Awar, in Dubai, as stated in a Foreign Ministry press release.
The meeting included discussions on the recruitment of more Bangladeshi nationals in all sectors of the UAE job market, particularly in all Emirates. There was a focus on recruiting Bangladeshi graduate nurses, healthcare technicians, caregivers, professionals, and agro farmers.
The UAE minister informed that there are no restrictions on the employment of Bangladeshi workers, emphasising the importance of recruiting a skilled workforce based on the demands of the technology-driven job market.
He also mentioned the utilisation of AI (artificial intelligence) and related software for workforce recruitment and management in the UAE, expressing concerns about skills verification and certification of job seekers.
The foreign minister highlighted Bangladesh's initiatives to enhance the skills of workers bound for the UAE and expressed readiness to hire UAE language trainers. He also mentioned Kuwait's decision to recruit skilled nurses from Bangladesh and requested the UAE minister to consider employing qualified nurses and medical professionals from Bangladesh.
The UAE minister welcomed the proposal and assured that they would review the Kuwaiti recruitment model in an upcoming joint technical committee meeting in Dhaka.
Both sides also addressed welfare issues concerning the Bangladeshi expatriate community in the UAE.
