Dhaka wants US to restore GSP soon

Thursday, 18 September 2014

Bangladesh Ambassador to the United States (US) Mohammad Ziauddin has said the US government should consider reinstating GSP for Bangladesh at the soonest possible time. The diplomat said Bangladesh is working hard to comply with the US Actions Plan over the workers’ rights and safety in the RMG sector after the Rana Plaza incident in April 2013. He made the remarks during his meeting with Congressman Joseph Crowley, an influential Democrat Congressman and Co-chair of the Congressional Bangladesh Caucus in the House of Representatives, held on Wednesday at his office in Capitol Hill, according to a news agency.
