Dhaka's open spaces

Parks are crucial to development of a healthy city where all citizens can benefit from such facilities that offer space for breathing and walking, and scope to have a look at the nature. However, we see nowadays children grow up as less active than was the previous generation and we have failed to provide them with opportunities to play and exercise.
As known to all of us, most of the schools in Dhaka city do not have playground or even a wide compound. The Dhaka city has only a few open places left and they too are not maintained properly. Such open spaces are either dirty or safe haven for antisocial elements. As we still have some parks and open space in the city we live and love, the city corporation authorities should keep them clean and safe for movement of the commoners throughout the day.
We can't expect a healthy nation without ensuring healthy growth of our children and certain free space in our surroundings is essential for keeping children physically active and mentally sound.
We need to launch a healthy city movement so that all dwellers of this city can feel the need for improvement and the authorities concerned take necessary steps towards that end.
