Dhaka\\\'s rail link with northern region snapped

Dhaka's rail communications with districts in the country’s north-western and northern region have been suspended since Wednesday morning following derailment of an inter-city train in Gazipur district. Gazipur Railway Station master said the wheels of a compartment of ‘Rangpur Express’ train veered off the railway tracks at Outer Signal of Mouchak Railway Station around 10:30am on Wednesday, blocking movement of train on the important rail route since then. However, no casualty is reported in the accident. Sources at Kamalapur Rail Station confirmed the accident saying rail communications between Dhaka and north and north-western parts of the country was snapped after the accident, However, they said a salvage train has reached Mouchak from Dhaka’s Kamalapur and the rail movement on this route will resume soon, according to a news agency.
