Dhaka's rail links with Bangladesh’s north and south-western regions have been restored after over 9 hours. The communication was snapped on Sunday after the engine and four coaches of ‘Rajshahi Express’ train had derailed on one end of Jamuna Bridge. However, no casualty is reported. Rail communication resumed about 6pm on Sunday after the derailed coaches had been removed. Sunday’s accident snapped Dhaka’s links with Khulna, Rajshahi and the north and south-western districts. Rajshahi Express’ loko master Shamsul Alam blamed the Jamuna Bridge’s Paschimpar (west bank) Rail Station’s lineman for the mishap. He said his train was on the broad-gauge line but the lineman signalled him to use the metre-gauge line. A four-member investigation committee had been formed to look into the accident. It has been ordered to submit its findings within three-working days, according to a news agency.
