A brilliant century by Arif guided Dhanmondi Club to a huge 189-run victory over Kamalapur Evergreen Club in a qualifying round match of the Metropolis 3rd Division Cricket League at the Dhaka University ground in the city Thursday, reports UNB.
Winning the toss, Dhanmondi Club batted first to amass 280 for all in 42 overs with Arifur Rahman scoring 102 runs off 84 balls that featured 14 fours and three sixes. Rahman grabbed four wickets for 50 runs.
In reply, Kamalapur Evergreen Club were bundled out for 91 runs in 26.3 overs with Hasib making not out 23.
In another match, Dhaka Cricket Academy (Sun) outplayed Dhanmondi Cricket Academy by 106 runs at the City Club ground.
Batting first after winning the toss, Dhaka Cricket Academy (Sun) scored 224 runs for all in 44.2 overs with Nasim contributing 77 runs. Shawon bagged four wickets for 47 runs.
In reply, Dhanmondi Cricket Academy were all out for 118 in 39.2 overs with Jem making 22 runs. Asadul took four wickets for 16 runs.
In the day's other two matches, Udayan Cricket Academy (Green) (207/9) beat Shaheed Faruk-Taslim Cricket Academy (179/10) by 28 runs at the Gulshan Youth Club ground, while Winning Run Club (83/2) defeated Dhupkhola Cricket Academy (80/10) by eight wickets at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium.
