Opener Shikhar Dhawan has hit a scintillating century as rain-hit Day-1 play resumed in the one-off Test between Bangladesh and India in Fatullah of Narayanganj on Wednesday. The left-hander swept Jubair Hossain for a boundary to bring up his third Test ton off 101 balls with 16 boundaries. The tourists were 167 for no loss with Dhawan batting on 103 and Murali Vijay on 64 at the Khan Shaheb Osman Ali Stadium on Wednesday. The openers retained the momentum of the Indian innings as play resumed after rain halted proceedings for about four hours in the one-off Test. Lunch was taken early after heavy rain halted play with 25 minutes to go in the first session. Dhawan was dropped on 73 right before rain interrupted play. He flicked spinner Taijul Islam for a catch at short midwicket. Shuvagata Hom Chowdhury got both his hands under it with a dive but spilled it in the end. Dhawan was at his attacking best. He hit a boundary off Shuvagata before the first drinks break to reach his half-century off only 47 balls cracking 10 fours. Indian Captain Virat Kohli won the toss in the morning and said his side will look to make the best of the good batting surface. After losing the toss Bangladesh Captain Mushfiqur Rahim said the wicket will get slower with time. Wicketkeeper Liton Das made his debut as the hosts’ 77th Test cricketer. Bangladesh legspinner Jubair Hossain has returned to the side as Bangladesh fielded four spinners including Shakib Al Hasan. The hosts are playing with just one specialist seamer - Mohammad Shahid. India have fielded three seamers, two spinners and six batsmen, according to a news agency.
