'Dialogue between AL, BNP is must'

Speakers at a seminar in the city Friday said a dialogue between Bangladesh Awami League (AL) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) is a must, reports BSS.
A solid footing of democratic culture would not be established until AL and BNP come close eschewing their ego, they told the seminar on "Bangladesh's Democracy to Which Direction" organised by weekly Oporadh Bichitra at the National Press Club in the city Friday.
Former vice-chancellor of Dhaka University Prof Dr Emajuddin Ahmed was the chief guest at the seminar with editor of Oporadh Bichitra SM Morshed in the chair.
The seminar was addressed, among others, by eminent lawyer Barrister Amirul Islam, BNP standing committee member Mahbubur Rahman, Dean of Social Science Faculty of DU Haroon-ar-Rashid, JSD executive president Mainuddin Khan Badal, AL leader Mahmudur Rahman Manna and BLDP President Nazim Uddin Al-Azad.
Professor Muhammad Jahangir Alam Chowdhury presented the keynote paper.
Speaking on the occasion, Emajuddin stressed the need for nurturing political culture to make the path of democracy smooth and said coordinated democratic culture is needed for making the democracy fruitful.
