Dialogue with political parties progressing

Saturday, 7 June 2008

Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury has said the current dialogue with the political parties is progressing satisfactorily, reports bdnews24.com.

He expressed the hope that the process of dialogue would be successful with the participation of all concerned.

While inaugurating a Lions Clubs International Convention at a city hotel Friday morning, the foreign adviser further expressed the hope that the reforms undertaken by the present government would help create social stability.

Mentioning the current bumper 'boro' harvest as a gift of the toiling peasants to the nation, he said it is a matter of great satisfaction that "we have been able to harvest 17.6 million tonnes of 'boro' paddy this season."

He said, in this process the toiling masses of Bangladesh, including the poor peasants, had a tremendous contribution, for which this nation remains "ever grateful" to them.

Dr Iftekhar Chowdhury urged all to come forward to assist in rendering social service. For this reason he praised the programme of the Lions International and acknowledged their positive role.
