Diesel subsidy for Boro farmers distributed in Nilphamari

NILPHAMARI, May 29: Distribution of cash subsidy for diesel to the farmers for the current Boro season has almost been completed in Nilphamari.
Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) sources said a total of Tk 12,09,75,800 has to be distributed among 1,48,329 farmers in the district who used diesel for irrigate Boro crops.
Out of those farmers who had used diesel 45,888 are marginal farmers, 90,878 persons are small farmers and 11,563 persons are medium farmers as categorised by the DAE.
Sources said persons having 05 to 49 decimal at land are marginal farmers, persons having 50 decimal to 2.49 acres of land are small farmers and persons having 2.50 acres to 7.49 acres of land are treated as medium farmers.
Both marginal and small farmers would get a total of Tk 800 each as diesel subsidy while the medium farmers would get Tk 1,000 each, sources added.
Diesel subsidy was distributed very smoothly without any incident whatsoever.
