Different organisations continue donations for cyclone victims

Different national and international organisations continue donations for the relief and immediate recovery efforts for the cyclone victims in the country, report agencies.
American people: The American people through the US Agency for International Development (USAID) have pledged more than $10 million of Food for the relief and immediate recovery efforts for the cyclone victims in Bangladesh.
This assistance includes more than 3,000 tons of food for Peace assistance already in Bangladesh as part of CARE and Save the Children grants provided through USAID. These in-country stocks will be distributed immediately, and additional commodities will follow, said a press release Tuesday.
Turkish Ambassador: Foreign Adviser Dr Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury received a cheque for US $ 1 million from Turkish Ambassador Ferit Ergin Tuesday.
"Bangladesh sees Turkey as a close friend and partner, and I told the Turkish Ambassador so", said Dr Iftekhar Chowdhury speking to the media afterwards.
Thai aircraft: A Thai aircraft with relief materials for the cyclone-hit people arrived at Zia International Airport Tuesday.
Later, a 10-member Thai delegation, led by Lt Gen Surapong Suwana-adth, handed over the relief materials to Principal Staff Officer of Armed Forces Division Lt General Masud Uddin Chowdhury at AFD.
Dutch government: "The government of the Netherlands has already provided five million Euro for the cyclone-hit people of Bangladesh through the Red Cross & Red Crescent Society and other international NGOs as relief for the cyclone affected people," Dutch Ambassador B M Ten Tusscher said at a seminar at Sonargaon Hotel Tuesday.
Speaking as chief guest, Ambassador Ten Tusscher, who came here in September to take up her new assignment, said the Netherlands is one of the countries, which recognized Bangladesh soon after it gained independence in 1971.
Gulshan relief team: A relief team on behalf of the inhabitants of Kalachandpur at Ghulshan will distribute relief goods and money among the cyclone- hit people of Shatkhira.
The team led by Monir Hossain, Ruhul Amin and Abdul Jabbar Mollah have left for the affected areas.
The relief goods included 1000 jars of safe water, 1,200 pieces of blankets, 1,000 pieces of plates, 1,000 pieces of glasses, 4,000 pieces of oral saline, Chira-Muri, biscuits and one truck of old clothes and Tk .10 million.
Bangladesh Coastguard: Bangladesh Coastguard vessel `Patuakhali' has dispatched 50 blankets, four sacks of clothes, 24 sacks of rice, four sacks of chira, one sack of molasses, 20 sacks of date, 45 packet biscuits, 5,700 litre drinking water and medicines to Shoronkhola in Bagerhat district Monday.
Another Coastguard ship `Tanveer' has been engaged in setting up tents at cyclone affected Gabtoli union under Shoronkhola Upazila, said a press release yesterday.
