Different road accidents kill two, hurt four

COMILLA, June 28 (UNB): Two siblings were killed and three other people injured when a covered van hit a CNG-run auto-rickshaw at Bennai on the Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Daudkandi upazila on Sunday morning.
The deceased were identified as Abdul Karim (30), and Abul Kalam (22), sons of Abdul Mannan, a resident of Kushiara village of the upazila.
Sub-inspector of Daudkandi Highway Police Station Rafiqul Islam said the accident took place in the area at about 8:00 am when the Chittagong-bound covered van from Dhaka collided head-on with the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, leaving the two siblings travelling by the auto-rickshaw dead on the spot and three other people injured.
The injured -- Faruk Hossain, Billal Hossain and Abul Kalam -- were admitted to Daudkandi Upazila Health Complex.
Police recovered the bodies and sent those to Comilla Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy.
Police also seized the covered van but its driver and helper managed to flee the scene.
A report from Sirajganj adds: Four people, including three policemen, were injured in a collision between a truck and a police vehicle on the Sirajganj-Kazipur Road in Sadar upazila on Saturday night.
The injured were identified as Sub-inspector Subhash Saha, constables -- Raihan and Hasanuzzaman -- of Sirajganj Police Station and driver Sathi.
Habibul Islam, officer-in-charge of the police station, said the accident took place as the police vehicle collided with the truck near Rahmatganj Kather Pool area around 9:30pm, leaving the four injured.
