Digital library
Tuesday, 22 October 2019
Living in an information age, a person needs to be updated about latest developments and established knowledge, to meet his/her daily necessities. The more accurate information one has, the more powerful s/he is. A modern library can supply a variety of information to people in a proper manner. Digital Bangladesh has created scope for more access to information. Now, professionals, who are trained on library and information management, have a major role to play in meeting social demand for information. They act as catalyst for teaching, learning and research and work for developing a learning community. Their focus is to deliver information and effectively share knowledge generated by universities and research organisations.
Today, the information professionals are working with digital literacy and digital content management. As the government has emphasised digitisation, these professionals can help create a forum for universal access to information. Such facilities can help improve overall quality of education as well as support building better career of various professionals. I think adequate platforms should be created linking different universities and other educational institutes to share knowledge with all concerned. Such a process can contribute to building an enlightened society and a competitive workforce in the country.
