Digitisation accelerates economic progress, makes life easier

The tremendous success achieved in the digitisation process has already turned Bangladesh into a digital country accelerating its economic progress and easing civic life. The common people, youths, students, Information Technology (IT) specialists and educationists believe that digitisation has created a social renaissance for faster progress, making life dependable on Internet services, speakers said at a programme in Rangpur today. They stated that experts, academics, educationists, farmers, IT specialists, young generations and students, people from all walks in life are getting tremendous help from digital facilities which is available now all-around. Addressing the function, system analyst and programmer of RangSoft ICT Services Mahbubul Huda said the digital facilities have made the admission process and access to all other public services easier and hassle-free for the commoners. Farmers Ali Hossain and Swapan said they are easily getting information on crop farming from Union Information Service Centres (UISCs). Students Abdul Khaleque, Laila and Kohinoor said they filled in their admission forms using online facilities successfully to take part in admission tests and seat for higher education in a hassle-free manner. Students Parul Rani and Radhika Rani said they took training on computer, browsing Internet under instructions of young entrepreneurs Ariful Islam and Sabiha Sabrina at Moidandighee UISC in Boda upazila of Panchagarh three years back for better future. ‘Now, we have set up our own computer centre and earning better’ they added. Terming digitisation as a turning point for faster national development, Executive Director of' North Bengal Institute of Development Studies’ Dr Syed Samsuzzaman said people are also earning through outsourcing utilising ICT facilities adding to remittance, according to BSS.
