Dilip for expansion of SMEs

Industries Minister Dilip Barua Saturday called upon the entrepreneurs to set up more labour- intensive small and medium enterprises (SMEs) for creating employment for a large number of people, reports BSS.
"Large scale employment has to be created for youths to build a prosperous industrialised Bangladesh," he said while inaugurating the Comilla Industries and Trade Fair-2009 as the chief guest at the Comilla Town Hall, an official handout said.
Dilip said the present government was committed to turn Bangladesh into a modern and welfare oriented country through industrialisation.
He said the present government under the leadership of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina was active in bringing qualitative changes to the political culture.
"The present government, like the previous ones, would not allow any terrorism and extortion under the political shelter," he said.
The minister also urged the local entrepreneurs to come forward to expand the SMEs, including that of famous Comilla 'Khadi'.
Presided over by senior vice-president of the Comilla Chamber of Commerce and Industries (CCCI) M Farhad Zaman Shahin, the inaugural ceremony of the fair was also addressed, among others, by Member of Parliament AKM Bahauddin Bahar, Chairman of Comilla Sadar Upazila Principal Abdul Rouf and founder president of the Comilla Chamber Alhaj Nurul Huq. The CCCI organised the fair, said the handout.
Later, the minister visited different industrial units at the BSCIC industrial city here.
