Diploma brand powder milk gets legal verdict

The Appellate Division of the Bangladesh Supreme Court has given a verdict on trademark appeal of Diploma brand in favour of Bonlac Foods Ltd Australia.
As a result of this judgment Sanowara Corporation, that was previously the agent of Bonlac Foods Ltd and tried to hold the ownership of the brand illegally, will have no right to market Diploma powder milk in Bangladesh any more, said a press release.
Since Bonlac Foods Ltd of Australia has been merged with Fonterra Co-Operative Ltd of New Zealand, the New Zealand Dairy Products Bangladesh Ltd has become the sole authority to market the Diploma brand milk powder in the country.
Earlier, the Appellate Division had confirmed the verdict of the High Court, which was given in favour of New Zealand Milk Brands Ltd for the brand Red Cow.
