Dipu Lal moves into quarterfinals

Dipu Lal of Nordic Club reached the men's singles quarterfinals of the Runner Group Independence Day Tennis Tournament eliminating top seed Amol Roy of Engineers Club by 6-3, 7-5 in the pre-quarterfinal match at the Ramna National Tennis Complex in the city Wednesday, reports UNB.
Anwar Hossain of British High Commission Club beat Jami of Mymensingh Club 7-5, 6-2 while Akhter Hossain of BKSP defeated Chanu Lal of Navy Club 6-2- 6-2 to reach the men's singles quarterfinals.
In the men's doubles, Delwar Hossain paring with Mamun Bepari eliminated Luxman Lal and Biplob Ram 6-3, 4-1 (retired), Anwar Hossain partnering with Rumman Ali outplayed Jami and Badal 6-0, 6-0 while Asmatullah and Monir pair defeated Niranjan Ram and Arif Hossian 6-4, 6-0 to reach the event's quarterfinals.
