Dipu Moni on 4-day remand

A Dhaka court has placed former social welfare minister Dipu Moni on a four-day remand in a murder case filed with Shahbagh Police Station, report agencies.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Arifur Rahman passed the order on Monday after investigating officer of the case Mainul Islam Khan Pulok produced her before the court with a 10-day remand prayer.
Earlier in the day, Dipu Moni was taken to the court from Kashimpur Central Jail in Gazipur in a prison van.
On August 19, last year, police arrested Dipu Moni from Baridhara area in Dhaka and since then she remained behind the bars.
According to the case statement, Md Monir Hossain, a jhut trader, was shot dead during July Movement in Chankharpool area on August 5, 2024. Rozina Akter, wife of Monir, filed a case against 351 identified and 500 unidentified people.
