FE REPORT | Wednesday, 21 August 2024

A Dhaka Court on Tuesday sent Awami League leaders Dr Dipu Moni, the former Minister of Education, for four days of remand and Arif Khan Joy, the former Deputy Minister of Sports, for five days in a case.
Judge Sultan Shohag Uddin of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Court in Dhaka passed the remand orders after hearing a petition filed by Inspector Tofazzal Hossain of Mohammadpur Police Station.
Earlier, the police official brought Dipu Moni and Joy to court and requested to send them on remand for 10 days.
In the remand petition, the investigating officer stated, "It is necessary to remand the suspects to reveal the key facts of the case, including the names of the persons who ordered, instigated, and were involved in the murder case, and to collect the names and addresses of the other suspects involved."
The two Awami League leaders were arrested in connection with a murder case filed at Mohammadpur Police Station.
The Detective Branch of police arrested Dipu Moni from the Baridhara DOHS area on Monday evening. A few hours later, Joy was arrested from Dhanmondi by Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
