Directive to curtail working hours

Monday, 7 July 2014

The government has directed authorities to curtail working hours by two and a half hours a week during Ramadan for employees working in commercial organisations and industries, according to a news agency.
The order was issued Monday, the eighth day of Ramadan.
Office hours for government, semi-government and public institutes were already rescheduled before Ramadan.
According to the order, 101 (Ka) section of Labour Act has been put on abeyance as per condition during Ramadan.
The 101 (Ka) stipulates working hours and conditions for labourers.
A worker or employee will have to be allowed at least half an hour’s break in each working day during Ramadan, the directive said.
