FE Report
Charities working for the physically challenged people Sunday demanded ministry-based allocation for the development of living standard and protection of rights of the people with disabilities.
National Forum of Organisations Working with the Disabled (NFOWD) has demanded a total allocation of Tk 4.60 billion for 21 projects as they got only Tk 2.56 billion for five projects of their previous demand at the proposed budget.
NFOWD president Khandaker Jahurul Alam said, "The work order rules of ministry should be amended: otherwise people with disabilities will not get logical allocation."
"In the proposed budget these people got an allocation of Tk 1.22 billion for social security under the social welfare ministry which was higher than that of previous year. But there is no specific guideline of employment or moving forward for them," he said at a press conference titled 'Expectations and Achievement of People with Disabilities in the National Budget' at the National Press Club in the city.
