Discount facilities for tourists during off-season

THE months from October to March are considered to be the period for tourism in our country Many tourism organisations arrange package tour programme to the Sundarbans, Cox's Bazar, St. Martin, Kuakata, Nijhum Island, Jaflong, Madhabkunda and other places. As the political condition was peaceful and favourable, such programmes were many last year. Internal tourism season does not exist from April to September. During this period, tourism-organising companies select neighbouring countries like Nepal, India, Singapore, Thailand, Bhutan Malaysia and some other countries for the package tourism programme.
Due to unfavourable natural environment, particularly for hot climatic condition, tourists do not select our tourist spots for their tourism. Even tourists become unavailable with 50 per cent discount 'in the hotels of Cox's Bazar during the time. On the other hand, tourist spots in foreign countries remain crowded with tourists throughout the year. Airlines and hotels of Malaysia and Singapore provide 50 per cent discount and supply free breakfast to provide package tourism at less expenses throughout the year. If our national airlines the Bangladesh Biman and hotels and motels would agree to provide such package facility, then we would also get tourists throughout the year. In this way, Biman and hotels can operate good business, their income will increase through tourism and there will be no off season. Now it is time to think over the matter and to take effective steps.
Besides, Lalbagh Fort, Ahsan Manjil, Baldha Garden, Ramna Park and Zoo etc., can be places of tourism for the urban residents throughout the year. Many people visit these spots of tourism with personal initiatives. But they become unwilling to visit the places for the second time for different problems of transport, traffic jam and car parking. News appears in the media that there is no recreation places in the capital. young generation are prone to eating at fast food shops and it is alarming. There is no place except Ramna Park and Chandrima Uddyan for free movement of the people. If the recreation parks under the city corporation are arranged well, then these places may be used by the people for recreational movement. Moreover, recreation parks may, and should, be established where there is no such place. The Bangladesh Tourism Corporation and TOAB can take step in this respect.
