Discussion meeting on sanitation month held

Our Correspondent NARSINGDI, Oct 26 : A discussion meeting on the National Sanitation Month -2011 Jointly organised by District Administration and Public Health Engineering Department was held at Deputy Commissioner's conference room here with Deputy commissioner of Narsingdi Obaidul Azam in the chair. Executive Engineer Department of Public Health Engineering Narsingdi MA Awal presented the address of welcome speech. The engineer in his speech showed the picture the progress of sanitation coverage in the district. He said three upazilas out of six of the district have come under cent percent sanitation coverage and the total sanitation coverage in the district at present stands at 90.83 percent. The meeting was addressed among others by Additional Deputy commissioner (general) of the district Dr AKM Wali Ullah, Chairman of Eakdoaria union parishad Abdur Rashid Sarder, BSS correspondent Mohammed Abu Taher and Executive Director of NGO Papri Abu Based. The Deputy commissioner in his speech said the government is pledge bound to ensure sanitation for all by 2013. He called upon all to launch a social movement and work together to help the government in ensuring sanitation for all by 2013. Netrakona BSS reports: Speakers at a discussion in Netrakona on Tuesday called for concerted efforts of all to bring all families of the district under 100 percent sanitation coverage by 2013. Netrakona district administration, District Public Health Engineering Department and BRAC Wash program organized the discussion on "Sanitation Month October-2011" at the conference room of local circuit house marking the national sanitation month-2011. 30 metric tonnes of rice distributed under VGF A Correspondent HABIGANJ, Oct 26: 3000 of poor and helpless people of Habiganj Pourashava got 30 metric tons of rice in Habiganj under VGF programme. Advocate Md. Abu Jahir MP inaugured the rice distribution programme at 5 centres of Pourashava Monday. Mayor Alhaj G K Gous was present in the occasion.
