Discussion on Bhabani Sankar Biswas held in city

A discussion and religious function attended by people including elite and community leaders was held at Angan Community Centre, Mohammadpur Saturday last in remembrance of late Bhabani Sankar Biswas, former minister of health, labour and social welfare before the independence of the country, says a press release.
The occasion was presided over by Mr Shankar Lal Baroi, founder principal, Agoiljhara Abdur Rab Serniabat College. Eminent personalities including Justice AFM Abdur Rahman, ex-secretary Enam Ahmed Chowdhury, ex-secretary Hiralal Bala, journalist columnist Manidranath Sarkar, additional secretary Prosanta Bhusan Barua were present as special guests.
Eminent journalist Nilratan Halder, Prof Dr Dirajur Rahman Khan, Advocate Chitta Ranjan Talukder, Major Kalam, Manoj Mandal and Ms Kalpana Biswas took part in the discussion.
Speakers expressed deep sympathy and sorrow while speaking at the occasion and prayed for his departed soul to rest in peace. "We pay our deepest regards, mingled with respect to the memory of Sree Bhabani Sankar Biswas, the great leader of the underprivileged people and pledge to carry on his noble work to establish legal rights of the scheduled cast people for whom he had worked till the very last day of his life," they said. They also mentioned that late Biswas, in his long political life, rendered many humanitarian services and duties and was honest in life.
Mr Dulal Biswas (son of Bhabani Shankar Biswas), president, National Federation of Youth Organisations in Bangladesh and member of the governing board, Youth Welfare Fund, Ministry of Youth and Sports, delivered the opening speech and sought approval to establish an organisation as Bhabani Sankar Foundation to fulfil the unfinished works of the late leader, the release added.
The proposal to establish the Foundation was approved by the guests present.
