Discussion on faecal sludge management held in Faridpur

FARIDPUR, Dec 21(BSS): A view-exchange meeting on safe "Faecal Sludge Management (FSM)" was held on Saturday at pourashava meeting room.
Faridpur Pourashava organized the meeting partnering with Practical Action, Bangladesh (PAB) along with Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, USA.
Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation's South Asian representative Roshon-Raj-Sherestha addressed the meeting as the chief guest with Pourashava Mayor Sk Mahatab Ali Methu in the chair. Roshon Sherestha disclosed in the meeting that to ensure healthy environment in the urban area safe disposal of sludge is an important phenomenon particularly in the fast developing countries where population is increasing with rapid urbanization.
He said that in Bangladesh similar projects of FSM are in the implementation stage in the municipal areas of Khulna, Jhenaidah and Kushtia funded by Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.
