Disgraceful behaviour of cricketer Shahadat

The news of Bangladeshi cricketer Shahadat Hossain and his wife torturing a minor is really sad and disgraceful. The law-enforcement agencies must take a tough stand on the matter, if it is true, so that others learn a lesson from it. I am an avid follower of the national cricket team and I like Shahdat Hossain as a cricketer. It was therefore a great disappointment for me to learn about his involvement in torturing a minor who was working in his house. We see young children working in many houses as domestic aides and they are often subjected to mental and physical torture. Such acts of abuse often go unpunished as these children are from the neglected section of our society. They have no power to protest and easily become victims of torture and abuse. Cricket is the most popular sport in our country and the cricketers especially those who play in national team, are looked upon with honour and respect by the society. The news of torturing children by a national cricketer is a disgrace for the nation. I hope the victim will get compensation and so that she can be educated and ultimately well placed in the society.
