Disposal of seized motor vehicles

Friday, 6 July 2007

IT has been observed for a pretty long time that seized motor vehicles are lying in the open sky in the compound of different police stations around the country. As a result, the valuable engines and bodies of the vehicles are going to be damaged in the process of passage of time. The valuable wealth is, thus, going to be destroyed in this connection. This is not at all desirable.
The law enforcing authorities may seize the vehicles for a particular legal point of view but there must be a clear policy or decision regarding immediate disposal of the seized vehicles within a reasonable period.
In my observation, it may be returned back to the actual owner under certain terms and conditions or may be disposed of within the shortest possible time as per law of the land.
I would like to request the concerned authorities to take immediate decision in this regard to safeguard the interest of the public and, side by side, the image of the government in future.
