Wednesday, 28 May 2014

The Supreme Court (SC) on Wednesday asked the High Court (HC) to resolve the pending five quashing petitions filed by former Speaker Barrister M Jamiruddin Sircar, also a BNP leader, against the Anti Corruption Commission-lodged graft cases. Responding to the ACC’s petition, a five-member Appellate Division bench, headed by Chief Justice Md Muzammel Hossain, passed the order, overriding the HC stay order on the operation of the proceedings of the cases. Advocate Khurshid Alam Khan assisted by Sarwar Ahmed represented the ACC while Jamiruddin Sircar appeared himself. Sircar was assisted by Abdur Rezzaq Khan, Barrister Nawshad Jamir and Idris Khan, according to a news agency.
