Dissident launches Cuba\\\'s first media outlet

Dissident blogger Yoani Sanchez on Wednesday launched her long-awaited digital newspaper, the first media outlet since the Cuban Revolution not under state control.
Sanchez, 38, whose prize-winning blog Generacion Y is known for its critical take on her communist-ruled homeland, at 08:05 am (1205 GMT) launched her 14ymedio online newspaper, with a first edition featuring a report on overnight violence in Havana and an interview with an opposition writer.
The site also posted personal notes written by noted figures from around the world, including Nobel prize-winning writer Mario Vargas Llosa and Polish Nobel Peace Prize winner Lech Walesa.
"14ymedio stems from of the evolution of a personal journey, but it has turned into a collective venture," Sanchez wrote on the site, according to AFP.
