Distribute quality seeds thru\\\' BADC: JS body

The Parliamentary Standing Committee on Agriculture Ministry has suggested the ministry to distribute quality seeds among farmers through the Bangladesh Agricultural Development Corporation (BADC) and supply soil test machines to all the districts. The Jatiya Sangsad (JS) panel made the recommendation at its 3rd meeting, held at Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban with its chairman Mokbul Hossain in the chair on Wednesday afternoon. The problems Bangladesh Rice Research Institute (BRRI) now faces and ways to overcome these came up for discussions at the meeting. The meeting was told that the BRRI faces various problems, including manpower shortage and fund crisis due to inadequate allocation, insufficient infrastructures in its regional offices and irregular promotion of its scientists. Committee members Agriculture Minister Matia Chowdhury, Abdul Mannan, Nazrul Islam Babu, AKM Rezaul Karim Tansen and Umme Kulsum Smriti were present, according to a news agency.
