Div I Chess League to begin tomorrow

The Walton Home Appliance Metropolis First Division Chess League, organised by Bangladesh Chess Federation and sponsored by RB Group (Walton), begins tomorrow (Monday) at the hall room of the Bangladesh Chess Federation in the city, reports UNB.
Internationally rated players from Bangladesh and India are expected to represent some of the clubs in the 10-team round-robin league.
Participating teams are: Faith Chess Club, Bangladesh Biman, Sonali Bank SRC, Basir Memorial Chess Club, Farashganj Sporting Club, Protiva Daba Goshti, Mohakhali Pradip Sangha, Destiny 2000 Limited, and newcomers Golden Chess Club and Debdas Biswas Smriti Sangsad.
Top two teams will qualify for the Premier Division Chess League next season, while two bottom teams will be relegated to the 2nd Division League.
The details of the league were disclosed by general secretary of Bangladesh Chess Federation (BCF) Gazi Shayiful Tarique at a press conference in the conference room of the Bangabandhu National Stadium Saturday.
BCF Vice-president KM Shahidullah, Additional Director and Head of Games and Sports of the league sponsor RB Group (Walton) FM Iqbal Bin Anwar Dawn, BCF joint secretary Morsalin Ahmed also spoke on the occasion.
