Djokovic powers into last eight

Tuesday, 5 June 2007

Novak Djokovic reached the French Open quarter-finals for the second year running with a 6-3 6-3 7-6 (7-1) win over Spain's Fernando Verdasco, reports BBC.
The Serb never hit top gear but his more powerful serve and greater consistency was too much for Verdasco.
Djokovic will now take on the winner of a later match between Marcos Baghdatis and Igor Andreev.
The 20-year-old is in line to face defending champion Rafael Nadal in the semi-finals.
If Nadal beats Lleyton Hewitt later, he will face fellow Spaniard Carlos Moya who beat veteran Swede Jonas Bjorkman 7-6 (7-3) 6-2 6-4 .
