DMP arrests 47 for selling, consuming drugs

Members of the Detective Branch (DB) of Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) in several anti-drug campaigns arrested 47 people on charges of selling and consuming drugs during the last 24 hours till 6am on Wednesday, reports BSS.
The DB in association with local police carried out the drives simultaneously at different parts of the metropolis from 6am of August 29 to 6am on Wednesday, according to a DMP release. In those separate anti-drug raids, police seized huge contraband drugs from their possession.
During the campaigns, police seized 1,271 pieces of contraband yaba tablets, 323 grams and 20 purias (small packets) of heroin, 86.20 kilograms of cannabis (ganja), eight bottles of phensedyl syrup and 800 milliliter of foreign-made liquor from their possession, the release added.
Police filed 29 separate cases against the arrestees in these connections with respective police stations under the Narcotics Control Act.
