FE REPORT
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday arrested five suspects in a case filed for attempting to 'steal' four cars worth around Tk 30 million in total.
The arrestees are: Jarak Ahmed (38), Abul Kalam Riftiar (38), Md Jamir Hossain (36), Md Sajal Ahmed (30) and Abdur Rahman Rubel (56).
Acting on a tip off, police conducted raids in Dhaka, Gazipur and Narayanganj, and arrested them.
An official at Tejgaon Industrial Police Station said Jamir, the chairman of a car showroom in Tejgaon, called AB Drive, and Jarak, the managing director of the showroom, took four cars from the saleroom in between November 26 and December 4, under Delivery Challan, with the promise to sell those cars.
However, Md Imdadul Haque Khan alias Nawshad, an automobile trader who owns the showroom, learnt that Jarak and Jamir removed those cars with an intention to steal them.
When Nawshad contacted the duo and urged them to return the vehicles, they did not listen and became aggressive with him.
On January 5, Nawshad filed a case with the police station.
