Friday, 24 April 2009
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Shahidul Huq Thursday armed his force with strict orders to crack down on drug lords without sparing anyone even if they have link with any influential quarters, reports UNB.
The Commissioner gave the instructions to senior police officers at a meeting held at the DMP headquarters in the city.
He said that it was the task of the Narcotics Control Department to check drugs trading. He said it is not possible for the police alone to check this unlawful trade.
Huq also stressed anti-drug awareness among the police, starting from constable to senior officers, so they could show zero tolerance to the drug lords.
The DMP Commissioner said a special anticrime drive will start from Thursday night when operation would be conducted at identified places where drugs trading takes place
