DMP CTTC chief rules out militant attack over election

Chief of Counter Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit under Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Monirul Islam said on Tuesday there is no possibility of militant attack over the upcoming national election, reports UNB.
He said all units of Bangladesh Police, including the CTTC unit, actively prevent such attacks.
The additional commissioner made the remark while taking to reporters at the DMP Media Centre in the city on Tuesday.
The CTTC chief said there was no specific information about possible militant attack over the national election.
"But we are ready. All police units have taken strong positions actively against militancy after Gulshan Holey Artisan Bakery attack," he said.
"They (militants) have no capability to raise their heads again as we have broken their networks. Besides, presently capability of intelligence collection has increased many times higher than that in the past. That's why we have prevented them before scattered militants' attempt to raise their heads," the CTTC chief elaborated.
