DMP designates on-street parking spots in city
FE Report | Thursday, 21 December 2017
Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Wednesday designated spots for on-street parking to facilitate operation of private cars reducing traffic congestion through organised parallel parking in the capital.
The on-street parking spots will be managed by different leaseholders appointed by the bifurcated Dhaka City Corporations - North and South, according to a DMP press release.
However, there are four traffic divisions - North, South, East and West- under the DMP that have surveyed for last couple of months to determine places for on-street parking.
The police authorities will allow vehicles to be parked at the designated spots for certain period of time in exchange for parking charge.
Nearly 2,700 vehicles could be parked at the designated spots legally with the announcement coming into effect.
