Saturday, 3 May 2014

In the wake of recent spate of abduction and secret killing, the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Saturday formed a 40-member anti-kidnapping squad to resist kidnapping bids, arrest kidnapers and rescue victims in the city.
DMP joint commissioner Monirul Islam disclosed this at a press briefing at the Minto Road media centre.
“The squad will work for containing abduction and arresting abductors. Besides, they’ll also keep sharp eyes on the accused abductors who are released on bail,” he said.
The anti-kidnapping squad members would remain alert to foil any kidnapping bid. They would promptly move to rescue the victims and arrest the abductors to take legal action against them, he added.
The city dwellers have been requested to inform the squad through a 24-hour dedicated hotline if they get any information about adductors and incident of adduction in the capital. The hotline numbers are 01713 398 327, 01713398619, 01713373214 and 01713373216, according to UNB.
