DMP installs \\\'retractable spike\\\' to prevent vehicle going wrong way

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) on Friday morning installed retractable spike on Hair Road besides the state guest house Shugandha in the city in a bid to prevent vehicles from going in the wrong way. Inaugurating the installation ceremony, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Hassan Mahmud Khandker said: ‘We took the initiative to bring discipline in the traffic system as well as to ensure safety of the passersby and passengers of vehicles plying on city roads.’ He said driving in the wrong way is not only a violation of traffic rules but there is also risk of occurring accidents of large scale. And the system was introduced to bring an end to the matter,’ the IGP added. Among others, DMP Commissioner Benazir Ahmed, additional police commissioners Abdul Jalil, Mili Biswas and Sheikh Maruf Hasan, joint commissioner (traffic) Mir Rezaul Karim and joint commissioner (detective branch-DB) Monirul Islam were present, according to BSS.
