DMP plans unprecedented security during Ramadan

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Benazir Ahmed said Saturday unprecedented security measures will be taken in the city during the holy month of Ramadan, reports UNB.
"Security will be ensured especially during the period of iftar, tarabi and sehri with deployment of a huge number of community and plain clothed police alongside the regular one ," he told a press briefing at the DMP media centre.
Among others, additional police commissioners Abdul Jalil Mandal, Ibrahim Fatemi and Sheikh Mohammad Maruf Hasan, were also present.
"Security in shopping malls and markets will also be ensured during the Ramadan," Benazir said.
The DMP chief requested the city dwellers not to buy iftar items and fruits from footpath during the Ramadan and warned of taking stern action against setting up shops at footpaths citing them as one of the main reasons to create severe traffic snarl.
He urged the businessmen and the bank authorities to take police assistance in exchange of a big amount of money.
Benazir also emphasised taking necessary security measures in conducting mobile banking in the city.
DMP commissioner informed that the government in principle decided to set up permanent booths at 236 markets to test formalin.
