DMP takes security measures for Pahela Baishakh

The Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has taken adequate measures to ensure utmost security and smooth traffic management across the capital during the upcoming Pahela Baishakh celebrations marking Bengali New Year 1433.
To this effect, the DMP held a high-level coordination meeting on Wednesday morning at the DMP Headquarters conference room chaired by acting DMP Commissioner Md Sarwar.
"To ensure safety of all attendees, we have further strengthened our security arrangements," he said.
"In coordination with all security forces, including intelligence agencies, we (police) are committed to providing flawless security. Besides, we are implementing some well-planned traffic measures to minimise inconvenience for the public," he continued.
He emphasised that Pahela Baishakh is one of the most significant cultural festivals for Bengalis, drawing large crowds every year.
He said that this year is expected to see even greater public participation, reflecting the growing trust of citizens in law enforcement agencies.
Acting DMP Commissioner Md Sarwar further said that the main purpose is to safeguard lives and property while ensuring uninterrupted movement throughout the city during the festivities.
At the outset, DMP Joint Police Commissioner (Operations) Mohammad Shahidullah presented the overall security plan through a PowerPoint presentation.
