FE REPORT | Wednesday, 18 May 2022
Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) authorities realised Tk0.795 million in fine from scores of buildings for indifference to the necessity of removing Aedes mosquito larvae or breeding grounds on Tuesday, the first day of the 10-day special anti- mosquito drive.
DNCC Chief Executive Officer Md Selim Reza inaugurated the drive in the area close to Justice Shahabuddin Park in Gulshan, a statement said.
DNCC Mayor Atiqul Islam had declared the drive during an anti-mosquito and dengue control campaign last week.
Launching the special drive, the DNCC CEO said the mayor strictly directed the officials concerned to take stern actions against those responsible for mosquito breeding grounds inside different buildings.
"Even any city corporation establishment must face the penalty if they are found uncaring about removing the mosquito breeding grounds," he said.
All need to be cautious to prevent spread of the deadly virus dengue by Aedes mosquito, said Mr Selim Reza, calling upon the city-dwellers to remain alert about their respective abodes so that Aedes mosquito cannot breed.
