DNCC mayor lays foundation stone of foot-over bridge near EWU

Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC) Mayor Md Atiqul Islam on Wednesday laid the foundation stone of a foot-over bridge adjacent to the East West University (EWU) campus at Aftabnagar in the capital, says a statement.
The bridge will connect Aftabnagar with the Merul Badda end of Hatirjheel.
On this occasion, EWU arranged a programme in its 'Manzur Elahi' auditorium.
The mayor said the foot-over bridge to be constructed spending Tk 40 million (4 crore) will be one of the most beautiful bridges in the country. He expressed the hope that the construction of the bridge will be completed within six months.
To protect people from risk of dengue fever, the mayor urged everyone to keep an eye on the surroundings so that water does not log anywhere during the rainy season.
Syed Manzur Elahi, chairperson, Board of Trustees, Prof Dr Mohammed Farashuddin, chief advisor, Prof Dr M M Shahidul Hassan, vice-chancellor of East West University, and the Chief Engineer of DNCC along with two local councillors also spoke on the occasion.
Later, the mayor planted a tree on the university campus and urged everyone to plant more trees to keep the city free from heat wave.
