DNCRP fines firms Tk 0.85 million

The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCRP) on Monday cracked down on 163 business entities in Dhaka and elsewhere in the country and realised fines worth Tk 0.85 million.
Several entities in the capital's Shyamoli, Kaptanbazar, Kalmilatabazar and Kalyanpurbazar, and divisional and district towns were fined as per the Consumer Rights Protection Act-2009 for violating consumer rights.
Health, agriculture, fisheries officials, the Consu-mers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), representatives from trade bodies and law-enforcement agencies assisted the DNCRP officials in carrying out multiple drives.
A official of the directorate told the FE that their drive will continue throughout the month of Ramadan.
