DNCRP realises Tk1.1m fine from offenders in city, elsewhere
FE REPORT | Thursday, 21 April 2022
The Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection (DNCR) conducted drives against 157 business entities in the capital and other parts of the country and realised fines worth over Tk 1.1 million (Tk 11,36,300).
Officials of health, agriculture and fisheries departments, representatives of the Consumers Association of Bangladesh (CAB), trade bodies and members of law enforcement agencies assisted the DNCRP officials during the raids.
They raided several business entities located in the capital's Jurain, Banasri and other areas and some divisional and district towns and realised more than Tk 1.1 million fines by applying the Consumers' Right Protection Act, 2009 for violation of consumer rights.
Besides, a complainant (consumer) has also received Tk 500 or 25 per cent of the total money realised by the DNCRP from the offenders.
A DCNRP official told the FE that their drives will continue throughout the ongoing Ramadan month for protecting the rights of the consumers.
