Do we pay due respect to the best children of the soil?

Sunday, 20 December 2009

We observe December 16 as the Victory Day, to commemorate the liberation of Bangladesh on this day in 1971. On this date, we pay our homage to the freedom fighters, who gave life fighting for independence of Bangladesh, the most beautiful achievement of the heroic people of this land.
In post-liberation Bangladesh do we pay the due respect to those best children of the soil?
We rehabilitated the 'razakars', 'al-badars', (the local collaborators, who betrayed the nation during the liberation war). We neglected our freedom fighters. It is quite unfortunate that many of our freedom fighters live hand to mouth when many collaborators enjoy high offices in government. What a misfortune to allow the traitors, who never wanted the country, to rule Bangladesh. Without any protest we allowed them to change the facts about the Liberation War. We failed to preserve it.
Time has come to punish and throw out the traitors for the crimes they committed against the population during the War of Independence.
Each and every freedom loving citizen of the country should pledge, "We will never again allow the traitors to betray the nation and its sovereignty, whatever the cost. We must promise to punish each and every war criminal. We salute the freedom fighters, with the promise to uphold, at any cost are independence, for which they gave their lives.
