Doctors strike hits patients hard in Khulna

KHULNA: Hundreds of patients were seen running from pillar to post to get treatment as doctors continued their strike for the 4th consecutive day Tuesday.
Medical services in all hospital, private clinics and diagnostic centres remained suspended due to the strike enforced by local chapter of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and Bangladesh Private Clinic, Diagnostic Hospital Owner’s Association, according to a news agency.
The strike was enforced Saturday protesting attack on Gazi Medical Collage Hospital by Khulna University (KU) students over death of a fellow.
On Monday, doctors of government hospitals joined the strike expressing solidarity with the striking fellows.
Healthcare and medical services were hit hard as a two-hour work abstention was observed in all government and private hospitals and clinics, and pathological centres in 10 districts under Khulna division from 9am Tuesday.
Two patients died at Khulna Medical College Hospital Tuesday getting no treatment, alleged their relatives.
